Short review

Hello! I am Jordan Johnson. I am a senior high school student that is part of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center (EIC) and I am striving to help kids in Tennessee receive great care. 

Why I do this?

Three years ago, I suffered severe trauma which required me to receive intensive inpatient rehabilitation. However, my family discovered children cannot receive crucial pediatric inpatient rehabilitation because Tennessee does not have a facility. Many children and their families have to leave the state to receive the care they need. This gap impacts families financially since they have to pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars to travel and care for their children. It also separates families if one parent has to stay behind to care for the rest of the family or if they have other responsibilities. 

I was fortunate because I could stay at a local adult rehabilitation center plus attended additional facilities with the right equipment for me to use. During my journey, I discovered the Healing Innovations Center with a transformational piece of equipment called the Rise and Walk.  This machine pushed my limits and allowed me to trust in my abilities. I made great progress which has allowed me to live the life I have today. 

Not every child has these options and the Rise and Walk equipment is not in every facility. With this event, Walk With Us 2024, our goal is to raise funds to purchase equipment like the Rise and Walk and donate it to rehabilitation centers across the state of Tennessee, and hopefully the country. 

Together we can change health care for all our kids. The kids in Tennessee deserve it.
