The Ted Petrillo Save Our Switchbacks Virtual Challenge 2020

Short review

Hello Runners:

Due to the continuing concerns of COVID-19 and the safety of our running community, we have made our Annual Save Our Switchbacks Virtual and VirtuReal for 2020.  Starting on Sunday, August 16, 2020 runners will have the rest of the month of August to run a 5k or the traditional 8k distance.!  All entrants may choose to run virtually on their own course or they are invited to run a marked course that covers most of the traditional S.O.S. course through the beautiful South Woods Switchbacks in Utica, New York.  The traditional start line will be marked on the sidewalk as it will start up the Parkway. A quick stint in Valley View golf course takes 8K runners to the left at the “T”  Where they run “D” Run course. 5k runners to the right and up a gentle hill to the majestic Eagle with a breathtaking view of the city.  Runners will then return the same way as they say traveled up for a fast downhill finish.    Unfortunately, we will not be using the Utica Zoo for our traditional finish but instead finishes at Zoo sign on parkway. This offers a great virtual training experience for those training for this year's Virtual Boilermaker 5k or 15k.  All runners will receive a commemorative medal and are encouraged to donate to help Save Our Switchbacks.
