Philadelphia Police Foundation's 2021 Market Street ‘Run for Blue’ 2023

Short review

The 3rd annual 5-mile Market Street “Run for Blue" will be held on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021. This is your chance to show your support of the dedicated officers of the Philadelphia Police Department. In the midst of this climate of 'Defund the Police' we ask you to 'Support the Police'. Please show your support for those who protect and serve our city!

Our history and our future: For decades, you have embraced the opportunity to run Broad Street. Now you can also run or walk Market Street in support of the men and women of the Philadelphia Police Department. Starting in historic Old City just a stone’s throw from the Delaware River and running 2.5 miles along Market Street to the shadow of 30th Street Station above the mighty Schuylkill River; looping back to the finish line to complete 5 miles.

In 2019, this event was born with over 1,000 participants taking part on a rainy and cool late October morning.

In 2020, we were virtual and participated in memory of fallen Corporal Jimmy O'Connor. Nearly 2,000 people participated in the Virtual event last October. 

In 2021, we return to run (or walk) through a most iconic stretch of Philadelphia’s historic area and Center City's business district -- from Old City to 30th Street and back!

Purpose of the Event:
1) The Market Street ‘Run for Blue’ is a fund-raiser for the Philadelphia Police Foundation and a competitive or fun 5 mile run/walk experience for all participants. To Learn about the important work of the Foundation visit here: www.phillypolicefoundation.org.

2) Positive Public Relations/Community Policing opportunity for the Philadelphia Police Department and the Philadelphia Community.

3) Awareness vehicle for the work of the Philadelphia Police Foundation.

Location:        
The race begins at Front and Dock Streets next to the Philadelphia Marriott Old City. It will end on the aqueduct road over top of I-95 near intersection of Front and Chestnut Streets. 

Awards:  Overall Male and Female - Top 3

Age Groups (Top 2 Male/Female recognized in each age bracket) – 13-17; 18-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+ 

Amenities:          
All paid participants will receive a Market Street 'Run for Blue' performance long-sleeve dri-fit race shirt.

Race Results:       
The course is certified and Race will be professionally timed by the Bryn Mawr Racing Co.; Results will be found at http://www.brynmawrracing.com
