Short review
Sacha lived in the Mackinaw community most of her life. She was a 2000 graduate of Dee-Mack High School then furthered her education by attending college, followed by a career in physical therapy. Sacha always had a smile on her face and a passion for helping others which she was able to fulfill in her choice of careers. Sacha married Joe in September, 2007 and later learned she was pregnant. After giving birth to a beautiful son, Jack, Sacha began to have some complications and thought it was a combination of transporting a patient and issues from having a C-Section. But the pain never went away. After a series of tests she was diagnosed in March, 2011, with Stage 4 cancer. She fought gallantly, had all treatments possible but sadly lost her battle in August, 2011. She continues to watch over her husband Joe, her son Jack, along with all of her family and friends that meant so much to her.
Due to Sacha’s love for her community and outpouring of love to family, friends and even complete strangers, “Sacha’s Sashay” was created. The Sashay not only keeps her memory alive, but continues to raise money for a community project that was near and dear to Sacha. The project benefits a community in which she loved and one she continues to better for her son and the town. We have raised over $110,000 for the community since our inaugural race. Funds have been used for various playground enhancements and updates to the Dee Mackinaw Primary School Baseball Diamond and to various organizations in the community such as the Food Pantry and Cub Scouts.
