Short review
With a mission of "Changing Lives Through Tennis," the USTA Florida Section Foundation provides financial support to organizations that help people of all ages and abilities improve their health and quality of life through the great game of tennis.
Since 2010 donors have made it possible for almost 400 grants to be awarded to programs supporting schools, adaptive programs, after-school programs and public tennis facilities. That's provided over $1,280,700 in funding to support programs providing so much more than just tennis statewide.
Providers registered as National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) organizations are providing life skills, educational support, mentorship, a safe place to go after-school and sometimes even meals for under-resourced youth. These programs have created opportunities to help students succeed in graduating, avoid teen pregnancy and move onto college while resisting the unlawful activities happening in their surrounding communities. For many of these students they are the first in their family to graduate from high school and many credit the NJTL for providing what they needed to achieve their educational goals.
USTA Florida Section Foundation has assisted over 120 organizations that are equally valuable to those they serve in their local areas. Adaptive support has included programs connected to Special Olympics Florida, Buddy Up, ACEing Autism and Love Serving Autism, as well as public parks offering wheelchair programs for youth and veterans. Community Tennis Associations, completely run by volunteers, are supported through grant funding in order to provide the necessary equipment and financial support to quite a few low-cost parks and recreation programs statewide.
These opportunities are only made possible through the individual donors and corporate sponsors that commit to helping us change lives each day.
