Proceeds of this race will be donated to the Manchester Water Works Youth Education Program. The Manchester Water Works Water Education program has been officially part of the Manchester School system curriculum since 1994. Each year we perform water-related presentations in local classrooms, discussing the importance of water for each of us. 2019 marked a first for us and for Manchester; ALL 14 elementary schools are participating in some aspect of the program! The 4th-grade program includes classroom presentations and individual Water Science fairs! Individual fairs take place at each school with the City of Manchester Final at the Water Treatment Plant. Finalists from the City Fair move on to the State of New Hampshire Water Festival and Water Science Fair Final. Our 3rd-grade program includes individual classroom presentations and our annual 3rd grade Poster Contest.
The success of this program has been evident with our dealings with our customers over the years, and the program itself receives an abundance of positive feedback from children, parents, teachers, and community members. Generous community members volunteer their time to help judge all of these wonderful posters and projects. Not only are the students, teachers, and parents learning about various water topics, but also the people that volunteer their time to help facilitate the program. Promoting the education program allows the employees of Manchester Water Works to go out into the community and interact with our present and future customers. Educating tomorrow’s consumers today is a proactive way to promote Manchester Water Works’ goal of providing the highest quality drinking water to our customers.
