Rocket City Kids Marathon
Kids can be part of the Rocket City Marathon excitement by participating in the Rocket City Kids Marathon, a non-competitive event for children in grades K - 8! Students become marathon finishers on race day by completing the final mile of a cumulative marathon training program in the weeks leading up to the race.
The Rocket City Kids Marathon is a 14 week running program that encourages kids to complete a full marathon (26.2 miles) by running approximately 1.75 miles per week. The final mile is completed in grand fashion as each child finishes their marathon distance in front of cheering fans, friends, and family at the Official Finish Line of the Rocket City Marathon inside the South Hall of the Von Braun Center!
The goal of the Rocket City Kids Marathon, is to Inspire and Encourage children to be active on a regular basis through running and physical activity.
Participants must train for the last mile by running a total of 25.2 miles in various increments. Coaches, PE teachers, and parents can help by encouraging the child to run and track their miles on the mileage log which will be made available on or before the Kids Marathon Kick Off (September 11th). Mileage Boosters will be held throughout the months of October and November to encourage the participants to increase their mileage.
Donations are welcome using the "DONATE" button to support the Scholarship Program.
