Miles for Military 5K 2020

Short review

DUE TO NEW LONDON'S CONTINUED RED STATUS, AS WELL AS THE SURROUNDING COUNTY, WE ARE POSTPONING THIS RACE UNTIL AFTER THE NEW YEAR. 

Join us for the IN PERSON 2020 Miles for Military 5K and 2.5K Race Saturday, November 14, 2020. Come Celebrate Veteran's Day with a run! 5 K and 2.5 K Race begin with a rolling start  at 9-11 AM. Road race for the whole family. Run the Submarine 5K or choose the Minion 2.5 K for a shorter distance! IF for any reason the race is canceled, FULL refunds will be given to all participants. 

Adult- $20 5K or 2.5 KYouth- (up to 17) $15 5K or 2.5 K* pricing will change as you register once your age is inputted

Enjoy this family event while raising money for scholarships for children in New London and military families. Culminating event for the Mayor's Youth Fitness Challenge Year 4! Come celebrate with us!  Race starts and finishes at Ocean Beach Park on Neptune Ave. Shirts guaranteed to those who register before October 24.  Registration closes at 12 PM Friday, November 13th; NO race day registration. Bibs for pre-registered participants (prior to Monday at 10AM) will be sent via mail on Monday, Nov 9. All others may pickup their bib in person at the Recreation Department, 111 Union Street, Monday until Friday at 8:30 AM-4:00 PM. 

Start line will be open from 9-11 AM to begin your race. Walk up with your mask on observing 6 feet spacing and your time will start as soon as you cross the start line. You may remove your mask as soon as you begin. Race will end as soon as you cross the finish line. All results will be posted online at www.timetotri.us and emailed/texted out to finishers. Final results will not be sent until all participants have completed the course at 12:00 PM. If you plan to walk, please start no later than 10:30 AM. No awards or times will be given onsite. CT regulations require participants to leave after their race is completed. Water, t-shirts (for those registered by 10/24), and a snack will be available at the table upon completion of the race.

COVID GUIDELINES

We are following the State of CT race guidelines.

No same day (onsite) registration.Bib pickup will be prior to race day by mail or in person at the recreation dept. for those that register late (after Mon before the race).Rolling start- 9-11 AM participants walk up to the start line and can begin their race. Time will start when they choose to cross the start line.All staff and volunteers in masks.All participants in masks until they cross the start line. Masks must be put back on after they catch their breath at the end of the race and have crossed the finish line.Looped course to prevent runners from crossing.Moved race to Ocean Beach so we can spread out participants as they come and go.All participants are required by CT race guidelines to leave after they cross the finish line; no lingering at the finish line. No times or awards given out onsite. Times online or texted. Awards mailed or picked up the following week at Rec Dept.Water, shirts, granola bar picked up from table at finish line- spread out along shoot. Grab and go style.6 ft spacing of runners as they approach start line.
