Short review
In a food obsessed city like Houston, an event which pays tribute to one of the state's defining pastries, the Kolache, seems only natural. If you haven't had a Kolache before, you've come to the right place. Welcome to the 3rd Annual 'Kolache Factory 5K/10K/1K'!
Kolache Factory, our title sponsor, was founded in 1982 in Houston, Texas by co-founders John and Jerri Banks, who identified a need for a fresh, high quality breakfast that could be eaten “on the run.” We're excited to officially put "on the run" to the test!
Participants in the 5K/10K event may register via three options: Challenge, Casual, Virtual Run.
The 'Run/Walk' registration is for runners who wish to take a more leisurely, traditional run/walk approach to the event and save the kolaches until after the run/walk. An award will be given to the fastest overall casual male and female, $100 Kolache Factory gift card.
The 'Challenge' (10K Registration Option Only) - Eat three (3) sausage and cheese kolaches from Kolache Factory at the 3.1 mile mark and complete the rest of the race in 120 minutes or less (20 min/mi. pace). This is for ANY participant who wishes to accomplish this feat. An award will be given to the fastest challenge male and female, $100 Kolache Factory gift card. If you register as a Challenger but are not able to complete the Challenge there are no penalties, you're just ineligible for awards.
The 'Virtual Run' is for runners who prefer to sleep in, earn their race swag and visit Kolache Factory on their own time.
5K/10K Run/Walk (and 'Challenge') participants all begin the race at the same time and receive a timed bib, race tech shirt and commemorative medal. Only Challenge participants receive three kolaches at the 3.1 mile mark, and all participants are eligible to enjoy kolaches at the finish line (courtesy of Kolache Factory) along with other post-race refreshments including one free beer per 21+ participant.
Also, we have an option for our young participants in the 'Kolache Kids' Fun Run 1K' (Ages 12 and Under Fun Run, Untimed). One parent per child may participate for free during the event. We'll also have a face painter/balloon twister on site at the start/finish line area between 8-10am for all of our participating kids!
So, what are you waiting for...are you up to the Challenge?!?
