DESCRIPTION & BENEFICIARY

Fruit Cove Baptist Church is hosting its 5th annual 5K fun run & walk to raise money that will support Fostering Hope, a Fruit Cove Baptist Church ministry that exists to support foster and adoptive families in our community. Proceeds from the race will be used to continue the mission of Fostering Hope with education programs, wrap around services, and to supplement the addition of a foster closet to serve the community. Please come join us in this fun family-oriented event while raising money for a worthy cause.

PACKET PICK UP/REGISTRATION
Packets will be available for pick up at Fruit Cove Baptist Church on Friday, October 22rd from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Packets will also be available race day beginning 1.5 hours before the race.

You can also register in person at Fruit Cove Baptist Church on Friday, October 22rd from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM or on race day beginning 1.5 hours before the race.
 
COURSE
The course starts and ends at Fruit Cove Baptist Church. The route will go south on SR13 into Julington Creek Plantation and returning along the same route to the church.
 
It's a certified 5K course: 5K USATF certified course # FL18047TY

The purpose of the USATF course certification program is to produce road racecourses of accurately measured distances. For any road running performance to be accepted as a record or be nationally ranked, it must be run on a USATF-certified course. In addition, the certification program is very important to the average road racer, as well as those of exceptional speed. Most runners like to compare performances run on different courses, and such comparisons are difficult if course distances are not reliable. No one can truly establish a personal best if the course distance is not accurate.

AWARDS
Awards will be presented to the top three men and women overall, first master's male and female overall, and the top three in each of the following male and female age groups: 10 & under, 11-13, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80+.

Post-Race Celebration: Fruit Cove MOVE event will include refreshments and breakfast.

RACE TIMING AND SCORING
The 5K will be professionally timed and scored by Second Wind Racing. The race will be timed using disposable, electronic tags attached to the bib number. Please wear your bib number to the front, pinned at all four corners, visible, and unaltered. Printed results will be posted at the race site and live online during the race at FruitCoveMOVE5KFunRunandWalk.

VIRUTAL RACE: YOUR COURSE - YOUR START TIME - YOUR RACE DATE
 
What is a virtual race?  Keep running and walking on your own schedule. Registered runners/walkers will be provided with an online time submission link.  Any day from October 23th - October 24th you can run your race, and then record and submit your time.  Results will be scored and award certificates will be emailed out to all participants.

Starting the Friday before race day (10/22) at 9pm, all registered runners/walkers will be provided with an online time submission link, direct from our timing friends at Second Wind Timing. Either Saturday or Sunday 10/23 or 10/24, you can run your race, and then record and submit your time. Runners are also asked to submit ‘proof of time’ either a photo of your GPS watch screen, or a screenshot of your smartphone running app showing distance/time.  Results will be scored, and award certificates will be emailed out to all participants.
