Short review

It's a bit of a non-traditional race. The school can't do our normal community-building events this year due to Covid so we are trying something different by putting on a virtual race event. We are using the "RunSignUp.com" race platform so it will be open to the larger public and will provide a way for everyone to see what all the other runners are up to...it's super fun! Participants will receive a pair of SCS logo'd long socks to wear while they run and they can run anytime and anywhere they want to that day. The socks they are wearing will then become a "coupon" to access perks from local businesses for that day ONLY (a chicken sandwich from CFA on Fruitville, a doughnut from Peachey's, a coffee and mini chia cup from Buttermilk, etc). Stay tuned as our list of participating local vendors continues to grow. Our hope is that SCS families will bump into each other (in a socially distant way of course) throughout the day either when running or visiting one of the local businesses and that connections will be strengthened between families.

Any profits from the event will go to show support to our faculty and staff for all of the extra efforts they have gone through this year with navigating teaching through a pandemic. The Compound Boardshop has also generously donated a paddleboard to be awarded to an SCS employee in recognition for all they have done to make this year one in which SCS has not just survived but thrived. You will be asked to cast your vote for the SCS employee of your choice when you register for the event. Burn Boot Camp and The Rowhouse and The Toy Lab are partnering with us to provide prizes for the winners of the races. We will award some of the prizes based on completion times and some of the prizes for non-timed race-related achievements so that participants of all ages and stages will have an opportunity to win. More details to come.
