About the Race

Please join us for our annual spring race which will take place Saturday, Apr. 9, 2022. The race, named after Kent State University's unofficial mascot, will be available for anyone to participate in, whether you are at home or on campus. The course is a loop course beginning and ending near the entrance to the Student Recreation and Wellness Center on the Kent State University Campus. If you are in Kent and would like to run the actual course, it will be marked and will take you through the campus via the Esplanade and Portage Bike and Hike Trail. A few small hills adds to the runners experience so be on the lookout for the infamous black squirrels. 

Cancellation policy:
Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable to another person, event or year. The 2022 Black Squirrel 5k Walk/Run will be held rain or shine.
Recreational Services reserves the right to refuse any entry.

Registration Fees

Registration Fee:
- Friday, Jan. 1 - Friday, Mar. 12: $20 (t-shirt included)
- Saturday, Mar. 13 - Friday, Apr. 9: $15 (t-shirt not included)

T-Shirts:
T-shirts will be available for pick-up starting Wednesday, Apr. 6 at the Beverly J. Warren Student Recreation & Wellness Center.  Delivery option available for additional fee during registration.

Time Submissions:
Competition times must be submitted between Sunday, Apr. 4 (8 a.m.) - Saturday, Apr. 10 (8 p.m.)
