2022 Bakersfield Marathon 2024

Short review

Due to the complexities of COVID with many of our race partners, we’re forced to move The Bakersfield Marathon, our flagship, in-person race, to March 27th, 2022. While we didn’t come to this decision lightly, we do think there is a silver-lining in moving our event into the spring.  First off, a spring race brings health advantages as our fall race has suffered from air quality issues due to the ever-extending fire season throughout California. Also, training for a marathon through the winter months is much more amenable than training in the summer. So while we’re not thrilled about the postponement, we think the spring scheduling is a positive feature for the future of the event. 
 
In our fall slot we're announcing our 2nd Annual 2021 Virtual Bakersfield Marathon taking place November 12th through 14th -- the same weekend as our planned in-person race. We’ll be presenting a virtual 5K, 10K, Half and Full Marathon — plus one special challenge for our toughest competitors. While we realize you’d rather be running in a crowd in November, at least all your training won’t go unnoticed.
