Annual Runners with a Reason Dipsy Doodle Dash & Liberty Mountain Challenge 2019

Short review

We are excited to announce the return of the Annual Runners with a Reason Dipsy Doodle Dash & Liberty Mountain Challenge to be held in conjunction with Liberty Mountain Resort’s 2018 Fall Festival, 14 October 2018 at 2:00 pm. The distinctly different and daring Dash (1-mile race) and the Challenge for the courageous and slightly cautious (1-mile walk) to the top of Liberty Mountain will kick off this year’s festival.

*Due to the rainy season, we have had to re-route this race. The run will now be a 1 mile loop that starts in the base area, heads part of the way up the mountain through the trails before gradually coming back down the mountain. 

Runners with a Reason is a group of high school runners, coaches, and volunteers that have come together to help others (to have a reason to run). Every year, this group of coaches and volunteers put together a Cross Country Running Camp for up to 40 runners from Delone Catholic, Fairfield and other local high schools. This camp is 100% volunteer run and operates on donations and fundraisers.  

This year’s reason for running the Dipsy Doodle Dash is to support two local families. The first is the Finneyfrock family in honor of Mrs. Lacey Kathleen Finneyfrock, who died unexpectedly on July 20, 2018. Lacey was a beloved member of the community and will be missed greatly. Our second family is the Kline family in support of Schelly Kline, a mother of three one of whom is a cross country runner. Schelly suffered from a Traumatic Brain Injury in April 2017, causing issues with balance, memory, vision and debilitating migraines, preventing her from working or driving. The loss of her income in addition to the health problems has made the last 1.5 years difficult. Also benefiting at the XC programs at both schools. Read here to learn more about the two families.
