Short review

Unfortunately, we will not be hosting our event in 2021.

The situation regarding the pandemic in the US, in North Carolina and in Orange County has improved greatly, and many places are re-opening, masks are no longer being required, and a sense of normality is returning. We are very fortunate, as this is not the case in much of the world right now.

The reason we are not hosting the event this year is more lack of time to put on a successful event. A lot of preparation would have been done by now, and as it will be our 5th event, we always planned to make it the best yet, and given the time remaining, it is not possible to do that.

We are also a non-profit organization, and rely on local companies to sponsor our event, and given the impact the pandemic has had on those local businesses, we are sure that they are still feeling the pinch, and don't feel we can approach them if they are still struggling.

Stay tuned for an announcement about a new race series in Hillsborough to kick off later this year. We are still hopeful that the Running of the Elves event in December can go ahead this year.

Thank you to all the support we have received for this event and our other races, we will ensure we plan early for 2022 (October 2nd), and make our 5th Anniversary event the best yet.

Hillsborough, North Carolina is no ordinary small, southern town. Its scenic beauty and graceful architecture spanning three centuries, provide an incredible location for a road race. Hillsborough continues to host numerous successful races, including the Little River Trail runs, Got GRIT 5K race, and the Camp Chestnut Ridge Trail races. It has however, been many years since Hillsborough has hosted a longer distance race.

Mack Orthodontics and Hillsborough Running Club are very pleased to present the 5th Annual Historic Hillsborough Half Marathon and 5K road races. Both the half marathon and 5K routes have been designed to showcase many of Hillsborough’s historic sites, and scenic routes.
