2021 (Virtual) Lake Chabot Trail Challenge 2024

Short review

RACE INFO: Join us this year for a virtual event. It is the the 37th annual Lake Chabot Trail Challenge Half Marathon, 10K and 5K.  We added a 10K this year to allow for others who would like to do more than a 5K but less than a half marathon. You will have 3 weeks to complete the course you registered for. It will begin Friday, June 4th through Sunday, June 27th, 2021. The race will take place rain or shine and there are no refunds. This is a virtual race event but the course is on-site. 

RACE COURSE: (Update on the race course this year. We will be removing Loggers Loop for safety reasons. This half marathon is short of slightly a mile). The half marathon course is a scenic, hilly loop, mainly on dirt fire roads.  The ridge-line views look down upon scenic Lake Chabot, surrounding grassy slopes, and eucalyptus groves.  Mt. Diablo and San Francisco Bay are visible along the route. There will not be any support or water stations, so we recommend bringing your own hydration. The 10K loop is what we like to call figure 8. You will have one little loop of the Ten Hills Trail then into a bigger loop on East Shore Trail along the beautiful lake.  The 5k (3.1 miles) course is an out and back that has gentle rolling hills and consists mostly of paved surfaces.  

RACE FEE: Pre-registered runners will be guaranteed a t-shirt if registered by Sunday, May 9th, 2021.  The price for the 5K is $35; 10K is $45 and Half Marathon $50. You must register by Sunday, June 6th. 

RACE PACKET PICK-UP:  There will be several opportunities to pick up your race packet. See dates, times and location below.

T-SHIRT: Entry fee includes short sleeve t-shirts for registrations by May 9th so sign-up early.  There are no guarantee of t-shirts for runners registered after that date.

AWARDS: We are confident that you will complete the course you registered for. Part of the race packet will include a finisher's medal. This year, we will not be giving any age division medals as we've done in previous years. We will definitely bring that back once this event is back to in-person. We apologize in advance for that. .

DIRECTIONS: The entrance closest to the event's parking lot is: 17404 Lake Chabot Road, Castro Valley, CA 94546.  On Google Maps, this will appear as "Entry of Lake Chabot Parking Space."  The registration area and start lines are just a few minutes walk from the lot ( just follow the signs).
