12th Annual Mad Cow 5K 2024

Short review

Now in it’s 13th year, the Mad Cow 5K Race in Nelson NY is one of the traditional summer events in the area. After last year’s virtual format, the race will be back live and in person on Saturday August 7th at 9:00 am. Running  through the rolling hills and farmland, the USATF certified race course begins in the hamlet of Nelson, , includes a section of historic US Rt.20, and ends at the Nelson Town Hall Park. Refreshments, prizes and awards will be given immediately following the race at the Town Hall. Race logistics will be provided by Leone Timing.

On-line registration ($40) with Runsignup will be open until Aug 3. In person registration ($50, cash only)  on August 7th will be from 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 am.at the Town Hall.

This year’s race proceeds will benefit the local emergency service providers, and the nearby Nelson Swamp Trail Project, which, when completed, will be incorporated into future Mad Cow 5K’s.

On-line registrations made before July 27th. will be guaranteed a hi-tech t-shirt designed by Jonny Haines, and printed by Cazgear. Registrations made after that date will be first come-first served for shirts.

This year’s exciting lineup of sponsors listed below, will be providing food, beverages, swag, prizes, and discounts to all registered racers, including a free taco and beer/ beverage at Mad Tacos, a free ice cream cone at Nelson Creamery, and a free bagel from Caz Bagels.
