The FRANKLIN VIRTUAL DISTANCE NIGHT 2021

Short review

Since the distance events night at our favourite Philadelphia Track Carnival were cancelled, again...

We are again offering you four virtual race options:

Men's Mile 

Women's Mile

Men's 3000m 

Women's 3000m

So we’re putting together some FREE FRANKLIN VIRTUAL  “DISTANCE NIGHT” RACES.

These are to be run sometime between Thursday, April 22, 2021, and Sunday,  April 25, 2021 by midnight, rain, shine or fog of night. Please remember to socially distance AND to abide by local regulations and safety precautions.

Just sign up in advance.

There is no qualifying standard.

There are no seeding times.

There is no age limit even!

We’re just trying to have some fun in the middle of all this.

Run 4 laps on a track (yes we’re going to call 1600 meters a “mile” for this event)

Run 7.5 laps on a track.

Or run a mile or 1.864114 miles on the road or trail, use some form of GPS if you must. 

Report your time. You will get a link in the registration process.

We will compile and publish results.

You can then download a finishers certificate which will include your name and results info.

THERE ARE NO WATCHES TO BE WON AS AWARDS, SO RELAX AND JUST HAVE SOME FUN. ALL AGES WELCOMED!

Last year the 3,000 meter races  included the current high school record holders: Cathy (Schiro) O’Brien and John Trautman. 1980 US Olympian Benji Durden (a marathoner) will be participating again. 2000 Canadian two Sport Olympian Carol Montgomery will be participating. Villanova's Kathy (Franey) Fleming and Vicki (Huber) Rudawsky will be competing. Vicki (Huber) Rudawsky will be competing in the Women's mile again. She finished third in the 2020 Franklin Women's Mile.

Mile: Mary Cain, Bronxville (N.Y.), 4:39.28, 2012

Mile: Sean McGorty, Chantilly (Va.), 4:04.47, 2013

Cathy (Schiro) O'Brien and John Trautmann competed last year in the 3,000m races.
