WHAT IS A VIRTUAL CHALLENGE
These are difficult times. COVID-19 is effecting people all over the world and is impacting all of our daily lives and those of our loved ones. We want to provide an outlet for people to stay active, healthy, safe, and competitive if they choose to be, during this difficult situation.
The Virtual Challenge gives you the flexibility to be an athlete on your own time, at your own pace, and in your own space.
Regardless of your fitness level, we hope you join us in supporting our local businesses and community with this Virtual Event. While this is an individual activity, we will all overcome this together.
REGISTRATION Virtual Challenge - Registration for Individual Virtual Challenge (Team) - Registration for 10 Participants CHALLENGESOne registration will grant you access to compete in any or all of the 3 challenges listed below:
158,000 Steps ChallengeEstimated number of new USA cancer cases per month in 2021* = 158,000
* according to the American Cancer Society
Since its inception, well over 100 students have participated in the University of Pennsylvania’s SUPERS program. Students come from all over the world including many under-represented minorities to this 10 week summer research program. The program’s goal is to provide a science based learning curriculum for the next generation of cancer research professionals.
28.5 Miles "Colon Cancer" MarathonThere will be an estimated 285 new cases of colon cancer per day in 2021*
Run/Walk 1/10 of that total in the 15 days, or form a team of 10 and run/walk the entire 285
* according to the American Cancer Society
You can complete the Virtual Event between Monday, May 17th, 2021 - Monday, May 31st, 2021 inside on a treadmill or stationary bike, or outside as long as you maintain the recommended minimum of at least six feet of social distancing.
SWAGPerformance T-Shirts to all who register by April 25th.
Custom Gaiter for additional $5 to all who register by April 25th
Shirts and gaiters will be shipped to the address that was used to register (continental USA only).
Virtual Results : All results will be user/self-submitted and automatically updated periodically throughout each day of the event. When submitting your miles/steps you can choose to remain Anonymous and/or to just mark as "complete" if you don't want to share your actual miles. Make sure to submit your time(s) for the proper Challenge. You can submit in one of the following ways:
Multiple submissions : You are allowed to submit your results multiple times during the race period and they will display cumulatively.
