We Run With You Virtual 5k - Race Against Racism 2020

Short review

This virtual race is meant to bring the running community together in support of our black community to say "We hear you, we support you, and we run with you"

It's important that we continue to learn from each other and educate our youth on African American history and how to actively oppose racism.  I plan to use proceeds from this race to purchase books and any other needed materials for TRIBE Seminole Heights, as they further develop these resources to address these difficult topics.  TRIBE is a nonprofit organization (501c3) that offers low cost and easy to manage activities for children and families located in the heart of Seminole Heights. All classes are run by volunteers and all items are donated. Follow their Facebook page for more info! By investing in our community, we can help lead the way to ending racism.   If there are any extra funds once TRIBE's needs are met, they will be donated to other similar community education resources.

As a virtual race, you can sign up to run or walk a 5k anywhere you want! And even though the dates list June 27-28, you are free to participate at an earlier date, or even split the miles up over multiple days.  You can do it by yourself, with your family or friends, or with your own run group!  To track your miles, there are a variety of free running/walking apps that use the GPS on your phone including MapMyRun, RunKeeper, Strava, and more! For families in the Tampa area, a weekly Family Friendly BLM Toddler March has been happening at Al Lopez Park on Fridays at 10:30am.  Next one is scheduled on Friday, June 19th and could definitely be a time/place for you to get your miles in with your children!
