Walk for Water is a fundraising 5K Walk and Run to increase Toledo’s awareness of the worldwide lack of access to clean water and to raise funds to help Clean Water for the World in their efforts to provide water purification units at no cost to local communities in developing countries. Walkers are encouraged to carry jugs filled with water during the 5K.  This is to simulate the work women and children in developing countries do every day to obtain water.  Pre-filled water jugs will be provided. A water carrying competition will take place during the walk.  Participants can carry as much water as possible using whichever methods they choose. The winners will be decided by the greatest volume of water carried per team member. Just no backpacks or wheels. Walkers and runners can raise money through their own fundraising web page on FirstGiving. Ask neighbors, co-workers, family and friends to make it a group effort! The event fundraising goal is $15,200 to be used to install units in places like Guatemala and El Salvador.
