Virtual Pet Walk with Blessing of the Animals and Costume Contest to Benefit Homeless Animals in Warwick

Whether you walk around the block, venture out on a new path or climb your stairs with your best friend, help make a difference for our homeless animals! This year, Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter will host its 13th Annual Pet Walk with Blessing of the Animals and Costume Contest virtually!

Join us! Register between now to Sunday, October 18, 2020. We will kick off the event with a free virtual Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 4th. The Costume Contest will run from October 5 -12th for walk registrants, with winners and prizes announced on October 13th.

Your $25 registration includes a colorful pet bandana which will be mailed to registrants. Donors raising $100 or more will also receive a special FOWAS T-shirt ~ tell everyone how you have helped give homeless animals a second chance! T-shirts will be mailed after the event concludes. Use our Donor Tracking form to assist your efforts! All proceeds benefit the homeless animals waiting for adoption at the Warwick Animal Shelter, and donations are tax-deductible as allowable by law.

You pick your location, set your own pace and mileage goal – this is all about fun with your dog, cat, rabbit, rat, horse, parrot, goat, donkey, ferret, chicken, snake... you get the idea – every kind of companion animal can participate and help you reach your personal goal, plus making a difference for shelter animals!

Fundraising is Fun ~ helpful hints to be great!
1 – Start early. Give yourself time to grow your efforts. Use our Donor Tracking form to keep track of your progress.
2 – Set your goal. Think about a goal then spread the word. Many times, people who set a goal raise even more than what they set out to achieve!
3 – Be an example. Before asking your friends, register yourself or make a donation to show your commitment to homeless animals.
4 – Reach out to your network. Use social media, send emails, ask co-workers, phone your family. Remember all those Girl Scout cookies and wrapping paper purchases you made over the years? Now is the time to ask back for support!
5 – Employer Matching Gifts. Many employers match their employees’ donations. Ask your donors if their company will match their gift. (Employer matching gift forms should be mailed to Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter, Attn: Treasurer, PO Box 9285, Warwick, RI 02889)
6 – Take pictures! Don’t forget to take lots of pictures of you and Fido walking, or Fluffy chasing you and the string toy up and down the stairs! Post the pics on our Facebook event and your social media networks.

Founded in 2002, Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter is a federally registered 501c3 non-profit, all- volunteer, humane organization whose mission is to help the homeless, stray, injured, abandoned and unwanted animals at the Warwick Animal Shelter. Donations are tax-deductible as allowable by law. Thank you!!!!
