IMPORTANT RACE CANCELLATION NOTICE

In the interest of public health and safety addressing the coronavirus outbreak The Great Human Race has been cancelled for March 28th.  This is a situation beyond our control, but we have volunteers and registered runners withdrawing due to the virus concerns.  Our office continues to get numerous calls and emails from the community expressing concern. We are exploring options to possibly reschedule.

As you know the Great Human Race provides much needed support to nonprofits. In the face of this challenge, the support of the community is even more important, thus we will continue to keep the nonprofit fundraising platform open through June 1.

Please share the platform Link with your family and friends.  If you have already made a donation to your favorite nonprofit rest assured that the nonprofit will receive the donation.

Please respond via email letting us know if you would like for your race registration fee to go to support nonprofits, or if you would like a full refund.  We will be expediting those. within the next two weeks.  Contact Email: adrienne@thevolunteercenter.org

The Human Race is a nationwide community fundraising event for nonprofit organizations. In the Triangle, the Great Human Race is the largest collaborative fundraising event benefiting hundreds of nonprofits in the Triangle, having raised over $3 million since it debuted in 1996.

Celebrating its 25th year, the Race is headquartered at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The competitive 5K course starts at the ballpark and runs through the gently rolling hills of the historic Forest Hills neighborhood.

More than just a 5K, The Great Human Race features activities for the whole community including local Performers, Food Trucks and a Nonprofit Marketplace.

AGAIN THIS YEAR! .5K Kid’s Fun Run (ages 4-11), where kids will make a dash run from the starting line and run .5K (54 yards) down Blackwell and back to the finish line.  There will be prizes for the first 2nd and 3rd place winners in the 4-7 and 8-11 age groups.   The race will also include an Animal Walk for fun.  Owners can walk the race route with their dogs.  This is an untimed event.

Run, Walk, Volunteer, or Donate to your favorite nonprofit...or just come out and enjoy a great time with your family and friends.

When you support the Great Human Race, you support the entire community.  We work with more than 1,400 nonprofits in wide-ranging issue areas... hunger and homelessness, health and wellness, support of youth and seniors, arts and culture, literacy and education, domestic abuse, saving animal and saving the planet! This is a fun family-friendly event. Tell your friends!
