Short review

The Tallahassee AIDS Walk draws hundreds of participants each year. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, September 16th, 2021 at Railroad Square and begins at 6:30pm.

This event is a celebration of all of those who have fought so hard to fight the spread of HIV/AIDS. All proceeds will go towards helping Big Bend Cares, Neighborhood Medical Center, and Bond Community Health Center provide direct-care services for our clients and HIV prevention and education for the entire Big Bend region.

Participants can pre-order shirts until until September 2nd. After this date, shirts will no longer be available on this site, but extra shirts will be for sale the day of the event for $15.

Individual community members, school and university groups, companies, and faith groups can register to walk as individuals or as part of a team. Walkers are encouraged to also become fundraisers and help us reach our goal of $10,000. After a memorial walk around Railroad Square, we will gather at the Railroad Square Craft House to listen to speakers and music.

Why We Walk

Did you know that in the Big Bend area, 1 out of every 172 adults is living with HIV/AIDS? In the African American community, it’s 1 out of every 72 adults. And, according to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, more than 1.1 million people in the US are living with HIV - with 1 in 7 of them not even aware that they have the disease!

Yes, the epidemic is far from over.

This is why clients, community members, staff and advocates of Big Bend Cares, Neighborhood Medical Center, and Bond Community Health Center are walking together on Thursday, September 16th.  We walk for the more than 100,000 people living with HIV in Florida. We walk to remember those who no longer can. We walk to remind you that you’re not alone. We walk for a nation. We walk to educate. We walk for change.

The Tallahassee AIDS Walk works to raise awareness and funds to support HIV programs in the community. All proceeds will benefit our 3 local HIV/AIDS service organizations.  We honor and remember friends and family, celebrate those who are living full lives with the virus, and recognize the work that still needs to be done.

Please walk with us!
