Short review

The Bluegrass Runners are proud to return for the sixth year of the Survive the Night Triathlon Relay and the third year of the Survive the Night Marathon Relay! Join us for these events on July 16-17, 2021 at Falling Springs Recreation Center in Woodford County and help us raise funds for cancer patient support care.

THIS YEAR'S RACE WILL BE CUPLESS, SO BE PREPARED TO BRING YOUR OWN CUP IF YOU WANT A CUP FOR HYDRATION.  WE WILL BE PROVIDING ALL PARTICIPANTS WITH ONE COMMEMORATIVE COLLAPSIBLE CUP.

For 2021, you have THREE options for our races - all intended to take you through the night as a TEAM. It takes a team for a patient to fight cancer, and it takes a team to help raise money for that fight. With both events, there will be friends, family, food, loud music, and an overall great time as teams race under the stars in the fight against cancer! You don't want to miss this!

Continuing Jonathan Feddock's Ironcology vision from 2015, take a leap and give it a "tri": Swim. Bike. Run. Ever wanted to try a triathlon? Ever wanted to try for that goal of over 140 miles? Well, you don't have to do it alone! This is a team relay event. Put together a team of up to ten swimmers, cyclists, and runners and tackle it together. You will be amazed at what you can do! You decide which athlete does which sport and how to divide up the legs.  You. Can. Do. This!  Registration fees are $400 for each team, plus the RunSignUp fee. Teams will start the triathlon relay beginning at 7:00 p.m. June 19, with a specific start time given based on their estimated finish time. The goal is for most teams to finish by 8:00 a.m. June 20th. Please see the FAQ page and the Race Cue Sheets for more details!

Or get involved with the MARATHON RELAY! If swimming and cycling are not your thing, you don't have to miss out on the fun or the great cause! Grab up to ten of your friends and family and cover the distance of a full marathon, 26.2 miles! The run will take place on the same course with the triathlon participants as you camp out and cheer your team members on. Don't worry, the lap distance is manageable for the casual runner, and if you are up for a bigger challenge (a full or a half marathon or any distance in between), you will have an awesome, unique course and can run as many laps as you choose based on the number of members on your team. Let's see if you can survive the night! Registration fees are $125 for a team of 1-5 members, and $250 for a team of 6-10 members, plus the RunSignUp fee. Teams will start based on self-seeded start times for the marathon relay beginning at 12:00 a.m. July 17th.  Teams are able to decide whether they would like to run in the evening beginning at 8:00pm on Friday, July 16th or anytime during the night or early morning, with a target finish time by 9:00am on Saturday, July 17th. Please see the FAQ page and Race Cue Sheets for more details.

Members of the Bluegrass Runners get an automatic $5 or $10 discount off of the registration fee for the Marathon Relays. If you are not already a member, you will have the opportunity to join BGR and get the discount as part of the race registration process! In addition to the discount on the Marathon Relays, BGR members receive discounts on the Thoroughbred Classic 5K, discounts on entry fees to all of the BGR Grand Prix races, and other benefits! For more information on the Club, visit our website HERE.

Make sure to register by July 2, 2021 June 28, 2021 in order to get shirts in your chosen size for all the members of your team (Sorry - the date had to change because the T-shirt companies need additional time post-pandemic). Create team uniforms! Wear costumes! Set up a tent city! We want to see spirit, and most of all FUN as you cheer on your team members and SURVIVE THE NIGHT! We are offering super soft T-shirts from Next Level Apparel this year. For women's sizing information click HERE and then click "Size Chart." For men, click HERE.

Because we donate all proceeds to charity, no refunds, no exceptions.  Last year, we cancelled the race due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and offered refunds or for teams to carry their registration over to this year.  If you are one of these teams, we will be contacting you directly to provide a complimentary registration link for the 2021 event.

PLEASE NOTEThe Team Captain will have to pay the entire team registration cost upon creation of the team. Team members then join the team without any additional payments.
