About: Located in the heart of Lake Cumberland, the Liberty Nature Center is the leading wildlife rehabilitation and education center in Kentucky. Here in Pulaski County, Kentucky, the 27-acre facility offers sick and injured wildlife a second chance at life, provides local students with unique hands on experience, and delivers innovative educational opportunities for our community. The Liberty Nature Center operates as a non-for-profit organization and relies on the generous support of private donors and the hard work of over 25 volunteers. The Center’s rehabilitation program sees over 200 animals a year, striving to provide top notch medical care leading to successful releases back into the wild. The animals that cannot be released are either transferred to other facilities for education or kept on site and used in our education programs. The Center has over 20 permanent residents that are used traveling the state of Kentucky participating in entertaining programs that teach over 14,000 people a year about the importance of wildlife conservation. A free tour of the liberty nature center will be available to all race participants on select dates. You will receive more information in your race packet. Some birds will be present at the race to see up close and personal and available for Q&A.
