Short review
The 14th Annual Passion for Life event is a 5K Run/Walk and 5 Mile run event benefiting research at U of M C.S. Mott Children's Hospitals and our Inspirational Family of the year. Each year the Passion for Life Organization chooses an Inspirational Family and raises research funds for diagnosis of that particular family. This year's race will be a hybrid option as of right now due to Covid-19 restrictions. So, if possible, we will host our annual race like normal in Downtown Walled Lake, but rest assured, we are prepared for a virtual run this year.
Our Inspirational Family for this year remains the Erickson family and William since we were unable to host an event for them last year. William was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular (SMA) when he was six months old. SMA is a rare degenerative neuromuscular disorder that robs children of the ability to move without any effect to their mind. William loves to play, even though a lot of his “play” time involves important exercises recommended by his therapists. At this time, he remains unable to sit unassisted and cannot move his legs against gravity. Because the therapy he received is so new, the future is unknown for William’s physical development or possible side effects of treatment. William is the son to Christine and Jack Erickson and they reside in Brighton, MI.
We will be offering a hybrid option (in person as well as virtual) in the hopes that we can host our Annual Run in Walled Lake, but in the event that we cannot due to Covid-19 and State of Michigan restrictions, everyone who has registered for the run will be automatically transferred to the Virtual Run (run anytime between 3/20-3/27). Packet Pickup and Shirt distribution will be Friday, March 26th (from 6-8pm) and Saturday morning before the race (from 8:30-10am).
