RACE UPDATES 5/05/21 Thank you for supporting our programs at Moorpark High School. We are excited to host an actual in-person 3 mile race at Arroyo Vista Park in Moorpark on Saturday, May 8th. Please see below for race details and a timeline. Let us know if you have any questions.
EVENT DETAILS Please note: THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL RACE, it is chip-timed and in person Participants will receive a technical shirt and post race food/drink Modified course: entirely at Arroyo Vista Park (see below) No 10k race; 1M and 3M only There is no race day registration
TIMELINE AND COMMUNICATION Sunday 5/02: last day to guarantee a technical race t-shirt Wednesday 5/05: registration closed Thursday 5/06: all participants emailed a link to sign up for event start time any participants who do not complete the form will be given a random start time CLICK HERE for start time link Saturday 5/08: event rolling start 8am to 10am please arrive 15-30 minutes before your start time to pick up your shirt, bib, and chip location: large pavilion at far east end of Arroyo Vista Park 1 Mile: start time at 8am or whenever family group runs the 3 Mile (no timing chip for 1M) there are no age group awards this year every participant 11 years and under (in both 3M and 1M) will receive a finisher's medal
SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS Our event plans have been approved by VC Public Health and the city of Moorpark Everyone not actively participating in the run/walk is expected to wear a mask at all times Social distancing should be maintained throughout the 69-acre park Family groups will be able to participate together
TRADITIONAL YEAR RACE DETAILS (not applicable for 2021)
Benefiting Moorpark High School’s cross country and track programs, the Groundhog Day event consists of three events. Starting and ending on the track at the high school, the 5k and 10k are fast, chip timed road races with an exciting finish at the beautiful Moorpark High School stadium. All ages and abilities are welcome. All participants age 11 and under who complete the 5k or 10k will received a finisher medal. There will also be a “Catch the Groundhog” 1 mile fun run for kids 11 and under which will be held on the track with finisher medals for all. Registration fees include a t-shirt for all runners.
Post-race festivities include the awards ceremony with age group medals plus refreshments, vendors, and a raffle of wonderful prizes donated by local businesses. PLUS, coming back will be our annual mattress sale in the MHS gym from 10am-5pm!
