Short review
MAY 6, 2020 RACE UPDATE: We have received an update from the City of Punta that it will not be possible to have a physical race on May 25th because of the Florida phase 1 regulation and guidelines for Covid-19 so this year's race will be completely virtual.
You can submit your virtual race results at http://memorialdayrace.org/my-results/.
Our Armed Forces go through a lot even after they've returned home from deployment and sometimes they need a hand-up to return to a normal civilian life. It's Our Turn Inc. 501(c)3 (www.itsourturninc.org), a Veteran group composed of men and women who have served in the Armed Forces, has designed this race because they believe there is a great honor in helping their brothers and sisters who have sacrificed and fought for our freedom.
It's Our Turn, Inc. would like to continue its grass-root effort to help as many Veterans in need, as we can find, and change the course of their lives. In the past 5 years, on behalf of your donations, It's Our Turn, Inc. has been able to make contributions to Habitat for Humanity, the Honor Flight, DVM, Homeless Coalition, Volunteers of America and many, many, many individual veterans in our area who have been on the verge of eviction, in need of a new roof or air conditioner, and so much more.
Band with us again this year, to "Find One More & Change Their Lives"! Our Veterans deserve it!!
This year’s race is the final chapter in our Five-Year Race Series honoring each branch of our United States Armed Forces. This year's theme is dedicated to those men and women who are always courageous... the United States Navy!!!
Registered participants of the physical & virtual 10k & 5k race will receive a gender-specific race shirt and a Navy themed finisher medal. The T-shirt deadline for physical and virtual races and the deadline to receive the five-year gift is Sunday, April 19, 2020, all registrations received after the deadline date will not receive these items.
Registered participants of the physical race will also have entry into a drawing valued at $500 (TBA), commemorative military awards for overall male and female in both 5k &10k races, 1st, 2nd & 3rd awards in all age groups, pre & post-race entertainment, including live music, color guard, fly-over by the Florida War Birds, & post-race food by local food trucks.
-Waiting List- As a courtesy to our runners, the Memorial Day Race offers a waiting list for those who wanted to run the physical race but missed out on open registration. Please send an email to registration@memorialdayrace.org with the title "Waiting List" plus your first name, last name, and email address. Runners/Walkers are chosen to fill open spots on a first-come, first-serve basis. An email invitation to register will be sent by RunSignUp when your name becomes first on the list and will expire 12 hours after receipt (so please make sure to register as soon as you receive it). Please understand the race committee is very busy the weekend before the race and can not give updates as to where your name is on the waiting list. If you have not received an email invitation by Sunday, May 24th, unfortunately, you did not make it into this year's race and there is NO race day registration.
-Deferrals- If you deferred last year's race, please contact registration (registration@memorialdayrace.org) to reactivation your registration for this year. Deferrals do not automatically move to the following year and spots are not held, so please contact registration before the race sells out! Also, remember to include in your email any changes in your contact information or shirt size from the previous year.
If something should come up after you register and you can not run this year's race, you have the option to defer to the following year. There will be a deferral fee of $10 per registration. Please notify registration at registration@memorialdayrace.org and they will send you more information about how to defer your registration.
