Short review
Join us for our 4th Annual Lizzy’s Walk of Faith 5K Walk/Run! At age 10, Lizzy bravely finished her battle to bone cancer. Lizzy's passion for her purpose of faith, generosity and compassion kept her strong throughout her journey with cancer.
On September 18th, 2021, at Twin Lakes Park, we will come together to honor Lizzy and other families that have courageously battled childhood cancer. Due to COVID Restrictions, we will be doing our race as safely as possible. There is the Virtual element for our run/walk/bikers as well.
Lizzy’s race, as well as others, ended too soon due to needing a cure for Osteosarcoma. 40,000 children undergo cancer treatment each year. The average age at diagnosis is six years old and one in five kids will die. It’s the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15 in the U.S. The treatment Lizzy was given is the same treatment that has been used to treat Osteosarcoma for over 30 years. When this treatment does not work in an Osteosarcoma patient, their chances of survival grow very small.
Lizzy desperately needed a cure and her last wish was to help the Dr.’s at St. Jude in anyway she could to find a cure so she donated her tumors to their research department. We are following through with Lizzy’s desperate desire.
From the past three races, we have raised over $100,000. This enabled Lizzy's Walk of Faith Foundation to donate $80,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Again, this year we will be raising money for St. Jude and Lizzy’s Walk of Faith Foundation. Lizzy’s Walk of Faith Foundation supports wonderful causes like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and local families that have been affected by pediatric cancer. Lizzy’s Walk of Faith Foundation is classified as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
We know this walk/run would mean so much to Lizzy and we want other families fighting childhood cancer to come and be a part of this special day to raise money towards a wonderful cause.
