Short review
It’s all about the water, not the wind. Hurricane Florence lingered in NC dumping 8 trillion gallons causing many areas to flood. Several neighborhoods and individual homes were flooded out such as the Stoney Creek neighborhood in Brunswick County flooded with 228,000 gallons of sewage making nothing salvageable in these 44 homes, plus 6 homes in the Planters Walk neighborhood nearby. Many homes off of Highway 17 and Highway 87 were impacted when the Sanford Dam breached its barriers causing lots of destruction in the Boiling Spring Lakes area. Many homeowners in these areas did not have flood insurance, because they were not in deemed “flood zones”. Thus, the insurance companies will not pay for the displacement of these families nor repair/remodel of any damage related to the flood.
Please join the Leland Lady Runners and The Joyce in person or virtually to help raise funds for those impacted the most in our beloved community, Brunswick County. The 5K will be timed, thanks to Brunswick Timing. Not only will you run in the scenic Brunswick Forest community, but there will be other activities such as....Raffles, Silent Auction, Fortnite Dance Off led by Coastal Dance Academy, Wilmington Strong & Leland Strong shirts for sale by The Logo Shoppe, Coastal 97.3 DJ Bigg B jamming some hits, and much more all for a good cause. The 1 mile fun run has a surprise at the turnaround. This event will be tons of FUN for the entire Family with an emphasis on FUNDRAISING!!!
