Now a Virtual 5k Run/Walk

3rd annual Hugs from David 5k
Sunday, May 24th- Sunday, May 31st

For the safety of our runners and our community at large, we have decided
to make some changes to this year’s event. With the outbreak of the
coronavirus, we have been discouraged from gathering in a large group. In
light of that, we will be changing this year’s race to a “virtual 5k.” We ask
everyone who registers to run or walk between Sunday, May 24th -
Sunday, May 31st on their own.

Our Virtual 5K run/walk is a race that you complete where ever you would
like. Choose your own route in your neighborhood, favorite park or treadmill
and run/walk/jog the distance to complete the virtual run. The beauty of our
virtual race is that you can run the race at your pace wherever you choose.

Here’s how it works:

1) Sign up for the virtual run, www.runsignup.com/hugsfromdavid

2) Receive your event gear in the mail. It will be shipped to the address you
signed up with.

3) Choose your own route in your neighborhood, favorite park, or whatever
safe location you choose and run/walk/jog the distance to complete the
virtual run/walk between Sunday, May 24th- Sunday, May 31st.

4) Post your results on the Run Sign Up results tab using the link here!

5) Share your virtual run/walk with us with a photo on Instagram tagging
@HugsfromDavid and #HugsfromDavid, Faceboook or Twitter.

Race Purpose:

The third annual Hugs from David 5k Run/Walk in Honor of David Bouvier.
 
A young teen with a deep love for cross country running, family, friends and community, David always had the time to listen to others and offer encouragement, often in the form of a big hug.
 
The Hugs from David 5k run/walk honors David’s memory and celebrates just a few of things that made him special, while raising money for important causes and organizations. 
 
Hugs from David is committed to supporting local charities and programs that continue David’s life philosophy, and all profits from the event will be donated to organizations focused on creating stronger, more resilient children and youth.

Proceeds:

The Hugs From David 5k is commited to  supporting student mental health and providing resources for leading a healthy life. Proceeds from this event will go towards supporting Lake Orion Community School S.O.S. (Students Offering Support).

Student registration rates are available!

T-Shirts:

T-shirts and long sleeve shirts are available for $15 while supplies last. Due to Covid-19, we have capped our shirts for the virtual run at 75.
