———————————-
We invite you to lace up your sneakers for a family-friendly 5K (3.1mi) run and walk from Greens Farms Academy in support of Komera.  You'll be going through a great, scenic location with beautiful water views.  The Dragon Dash features a gentle 5K course that winds along Long Island Sound. All ages and fitness abilities are welcome and encouraged.
Our events start with the computer timed 5K run (or walk) at 9.00am. This is followed by our new Komera "Run a Mile in Her Shoes" run, walk or stroll with fun exercises along the route.  All events start and finish on the Greens Farms Academy campus where there's plenty of parking. The 5K loop course runs on quiet roads and features some great water views. No matter what your ability level or speed, this course will be one you'll enjoy and remember.  Here's the link to our course map:  http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=7191675  All 5K run and walk participants will be computer timed and eligible for awards. Prizes will be given out for the overall men’s & women’s champions as well as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, in at least seven age groups from elementary students all the way up to 60+ years.  Everyone pre-registered in our 5K by April 7 will be guaranteed a commemorative t-shirt by size. After that date it will be 'as available'. Please pre-register before the deadline. There is always a chance we run out of shirts on race day if you hadn’t registered in time.
There will be post-race fluids and refreshments as well. All 5K entrants will be able to participate in the Komera "Run a Mile in Her Shoes" event (only 5K t-shirts will be included in registration). If you would like a Run in Her Shoes T shirt, please purchase one separately.

We encourage all abilities to join us on this great course. Run or walk- either way you will have a great experience!

The Komera "Run a Mile in Her Shoes" is an untimed (approximately one mile) race that also benefits the Komera Project. The course is through the campus grounds and does not go on roads nor driveways. It is a great event for all ages and abilities.

Our events benefit the Komera Project which helps young Rwandan women to "be brave, have courage" by providing secondary and post-secondary scholarships, building community, and inspiring confidence through sports, leadership training, and entrepreneurial opportunities. The Komera Club at GFA was founded seven years ago to promote greater awareness and deeper understanding of issues related to girls' education and empowerment, both locally and globally. In partnership with the Komera Project, through bake sales and special events, the club supports three Komera scholars -- Olive, Solange, and Ruth.
For more information, go to http://komera.org/mission-vison/
If you can’t actually be at our events you can still be a part of our GFA events by registering as a “Virtual Runner”. You’ll be supporting our mission by participating on your own, in any location and at any time you can. Virtual participants will receive their shirts and bibs by mail.
We will have early pickup for pre-reg at Sound Runner Fairfield on Thursday April 16 from 3-7pm. Yes you will be able to pick up for others AND there will be a 15% discount for all registered runners who come in. There will be same registration available too.
