Go For the Gold Rochester benefiting Brighter Tomorrows, Inc. 2021

Short review

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Go for the Gold Rochester 5k Run and 3k Family Walk! Sadly, this years event will have to be a VIRTUAL RACE/WALK once again due to the uncertainty of COVID-19 and the need to protect the children and families we serve. The annual fundraiser supports Brighter Tomorrows, Inc., an outreach to families who have been touched by childhood cancer. This race has been growing in recent years and the manner in which the community has shown compassion, volunteered their time and money is overwhelming and heartwarming! With our first ever virtual race last year, we were not sure what to expect, however thanks to the tremendous support of our Brighter Tomorrows families, friends and business colleagues, we raised over $32,300 and had 342 registered runners and walkers participate!  In fact, we had registrants from all over the U.S running and walking for Brighter Tomorrows youth! Your donations allowed us to fund safe family and youth activities so critical during 2020, with the need to restrict in person gatherings or events. Our heartfelt thanks to you all! 

While COVID-19 had paused the work of so many, Brighter Tomorrows continued to serve and support families facing pediatric cancer, because pediatric cancer has not paused! Our families have always faced isolation with the need to protect their children due to the immunosuppression from the cancer drugs they take. COVID-19 has only heightened isolation and the concern and care needed to keep all safe! You can help by donating to Brighter Tomorrows, Inc. and by sharing this page on social media with all those you care about! And of course, if you sign up to run or walk all proceeds from this Virtual event go to benefit families on the childhood cancer journey! 

Who knows how it feels to be told "Your child has cancer?" We do.

Whether it's your first 5k, 10k or Half Marathon Run or you'd just like to walk the 3k, you can take part in supporting Brighter Tomorrows. Sign up today!  Everyone who signs up by August 14th  will receive a race shirt in your designated size at Race Bag Pickup in September and be entered into drawings for gift cards and other wonderful products/services donated by our community business sponsors! . If you are running or walking to support a certain Brighter Tomorrows Family please note their team name on your registration as there will be prizes for the largest team registered! We will also have race registration available at race bag pickup. Simply complete the race or walk where and when you like and submit your time on the web link provided at registration by September 14, 2021.   We look forward to seeing those of you who are local at the Race Bag Pickup night! Our families hope to be present to wave hello from a safe distance so decorate your cars and honk your horns to let them know you are there to support them! We will have a prize for the best decorated cars as determined by our very own BT Children!  Thank you!
