2021 Fearless 5K - Back To In-Person Racing!

We're excited to be back to an in-person event this year, and hope you'll join us!

The 9th Annual Fearless 5K will have everyone back together again. Running4Life is a non-profit organization that raises funds for youth 20 & under that suffer from serious or life-threatening diseases, injuries, or illnesses. One youth among the others who will be helped this year is Emma Allen. 

Emma was born 3-19-2019, premature with only one non-functioning kidney & underdeveloped lungs. Her kidney was multi-cystic dysplastic, it was full of cysts causing it to fail and putting Emma into end-stage renal disease, requiring dialysis until a kidney transplant. Emma found a match in her mother, Tabatha. After 12 hours of nightly dialysis treatment since she was 5 days old, 2-year-old Emma received her mother’s kidney on 4-13-2021. Emma is not out of the woods; she's had 2 surgeries since the transplant and will need a bladder created to expel her urine due to complications from the transplant.

Kidney transplants last for approximately 20 years, so Emma will need another transplant later in life.  Transplants require a lifetime of medications, follow-up procedures, and unforeseen complications such as the creating of a bladder. COTA assists Emma’s family with a  lifetime of transplant-related expenses, such as this.
