Short review

On December 12, 2020 there will be a 5k race named “Elves on the Run” and a 1-mile race named “Jingle Bell Jog” which will be held in downtown Hamlet.  The main race event will start and finish at First Presbyterian Church in Hamlet, NC.  The racers will run through the streets of downtown Hamlet, as well as the surrounding neighborhood around the church.
The purpose of the race is to raise money for children whose families are in need and cannot afford to buy these children Christmas.  This race will help to allow these children to have a Christmas just like everyone else.  “Because Every Child Deserves a Christmas!”  At the event, there will be donation boxes set up for school uniforms, coats/hats/gloves, and a box for Toys for Tots.  These items will also help our families in this community.

The race will be $15.00 per school-age child and $25.00 per adult until the end of November.  December 1st the prices will be raised to $20.00 per school-age child and $35.00 per adult.  Anyone can register by online registration or paper registration up until race day.  The first 150 participants to register to run in the race will receive a t-shirt, drawstring bag, finisher medal and race bib.  The pickup for registration packets will be Friday, December 11, the day before the race, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church.  Racers can also pick up their packets the morning of the race starting at 8:00 am.

The day of the race, events will start with late registration and picking up race day packets at 8:00am, and continue on at 9:30 am which will be the 1-mile Jingle Bell Jog, a fun run.  After the fun run the main 5K event will start at 10:00 am.  When the runners return, there will be a brief awards ceremony for the top runners in the 5K.  These runners will be broken up into categories by their age on race day.  Also, there will be an award given for the best dressed in Christmas attire.

The main hope for this Christmas event is to bring in Christmas Cheer while also participating in the event to raise money and items for a great cause.  To bring in Christmas cheer, there will be Santa Claus who will stop by for a visit, hot chocolate and Christmas music throughout the day of the event.
