Adventure with a purpose awaits! Climb the spectacular Mt. Kilimanjaro virtually while supporting widows, orphans and families in Tanzania. Climb Kili takes place during the month of February, 2021, with all proceeds benefiting UboraTZ. Ubora serves a once impoverished village near the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro with programs promoting holistic community transformation, including education, health, business and community. Participants can choose from three different Kili climbs, depending on skill and level of fitness.
More About Climb Kili…The Event
Join us from anywhere in the world for an adventure and virtual climb of one of the greatest mountains in the world, Mt. Kilimanjaro! The 2021 inaugural event takes place during the month of February. Your steps, registration fees and additional fundraising efforts help support people in the Siha District of Tanzania living in the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
It’s up to you how you will make your virtual ascent of Kilimanjaro…by exploring local hiking trails, trail running with friends, walking in your neighborhood or even logging steps on a treadmill... all great options. Remember to log your miles on the Climb Kili website (under Results). An interactive map will track your progress until you reach the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro and 19,341-foot Uhuru Peak. Reach the summit and receive a commemorative year-one Climb Kili medal for your hard work and outstanding efforts.
A Route for Everyone
Choose from one of three routes up Kili. Which route you select is based on how much mileage you’d like to incur on your climb up Kilimanjaro during the month of February:
- Rongai Route: This is an actual route up Mt. Kilimanjaro and is approximately 40 miles long
- Macon Dunnagan Route: This is for the extreme athletes in the group and named for the Ambassador of Tourism for Tanzania who climbed Kilimanjaro four times in one month. Choose this route if you’re up for challenge to climb/walk or run 160 miles during the month of February, or the equivalent of climbing the Rongai Route four times!
- Novice Route – For those seeking less mileage and a gentler climb, this one’s for you! You’ll have the month of February to climb/walk or run 22 miles in support of widows, orphans and families in Tanzania.
Don’t miss the Climb Kili store for fashionable and fun merchandise featuring the Climb Kili logo.
During the month-long adventure in February, climbers will learn more about Mt. Kilimanjaro, also known as "The Roof of Africa" and hear from experts who've climbed the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. Climbers will also learn more about the work of UboraTZ and the people of Karansi, Tanzania who live near Kilimanjaro.
Sponsorship opportunities and the chance to raise additional funds for Ubora as a fundraiser are also available!
