Central Florida's only MLK Day Race!
Chasing the Dream 5K is an opportunity to support equality, unite the Orlando community, and celebrate the life of a great man, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Chip timing & age group awards! 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Place awards for all age groups and overall winners.
All participants will receive a shirt, medal, and race packet.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the New Image Youth Center. They are an after-school and summer program for at-risk youth, helping students in a high-needs neighborhood obtain a "New Image" through positive and motivating learning experiences, character building, and the promotion of education and fun.
There will also be a Zumba warmup, music, great vendors, and free raffle for all runners. Enjoy this fast and flat USATF certified course route at a beautiful park!
You can do even more to help your community on MLK Day by volunteering at a charitable organization after the race. Let's keep chasing Dr. King's dream by actively working to improve our community
Race Day Schedule
6:30 a.m.- Registration/Packet Pick-up Opens
7:20 a.m.- Pre-race Zumba Warm-up
7:30 a.m.- Race Start Time
8:45 a.m.- Awards Ceremony
Race Day Packet Pickup and Registration
Please arrive at least 20 minutes before the start time of the race to pick up your packet or register on race day. Registration will be located near the flag pole and statues within the park.
*Please bring a photo ID to pick up your packet

You can still register your friends and family on race day!!!
$40 Adults; $30 Kids (Cash & Credit Accepted)
Parking
There is parking at the park on General Rees Avenue and on the surrounding streets. We encourage you to carpool and arrive early.
Donations for the New Image Youth Center
Our charity partner, New Image Youth Center, will be accepting non-perishable Individual serving sized meals and snacks, such as Chef Boyardee 7.5 oz microwaveable bowls -Beef Ravioli, Beefaroni, Mac & Cheese, Spaghetti & Meatballs, ABC123 - Spaghetti O's Chicken & Rice, 4 oz Applesauce, Mixed Fruit or Mandarin Oranges, Pop Tarts
Awards
We will be giving awards to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place men and women in each age group category. Age groups are below.
10-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79
There will also be awards given to the top three men and women overall.
COVID-19 Race Day Safety Precautions
Please wear a mask- All runners will be required to wear a mask at all times before and after the event. Runners will not be required to wear a mask while running. We want to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Don’t have a mask? No problem! We will have masks available on race day.
Practice social distancing- Please remember to stay a safe distance (at least 6 feet) from others during all pre and post race activities, which includes packet pick-up and the award's ceremony.
Hand Sanitizer Stations -Hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the race staging area. There will also be restrooms with sinks and soap available on race day.
Frequent Surface Sanitation- All surfaces will be sanitized throughout the day to ensure that runners are kept safe. This includes registration tables, awards tables, and any other high touch surface.
