Short review

Calling all runners, walkers, and outdoor enthusiasts!  Come run through a great Community!  Pack up the kiddos and join us on opening day of our beautiful Broyhill Crest Recreation Club pool for the third annual community 5K fun run. The course will be a mixture of rolling hills and flat, shaded park trail. It's a run / walk so come out whether it’s your first 5K or you are trying to set that PR.  The event is stroller-friendly and pet-friendly (although you'll cross a small creek) so don't worry about getting a babysitter or dogsitter.  We don't want anyone in the family left behind!

Please note this is a family fun 5K and although it will be timed, it is not professionally timed.

Parking is available in the BCRC parking lot, along Murray Lane, Oliver Ave, or any other streets surrounding the run.  Additionally, participants may park in the Cornerstone Evangelical Church's parking lot and use the foot path that connects to the BCRC pool (two minute walk).  The path will be marked with signs and/or balloons.  The church's address is 3901 Gallows Rd, Annandale, VA.  There are bike racks at the pool as well.

Course Description

We start and finish right in front of the BCRC pool at 7212 Early St, Annandale, VA.  This course is a loop.  From the pool, we will take a right onto Murray Lane and stay the course until we reach Fern Lane.  Take a left on Fern Lane and one block later turn right onto Sprucedale Drive where a race volunteer will direct you to the entrance of the Holmes Run trail.  After 25 meters on the trail, we'll encounter a T-intersection where you will follow the path to the left, over the creek.  Follow the race day signs on the trail (past Rose Lane Park) for approximately one mile.  There will be another T-intersection and we'll go to the left, over the creek again.  We'll exit the park onto Valleycrest Dr, which, after a block or so, converges with Murray Ln.  Follow it three blocks to Early St, take a right, and after one block, take a right onto Rodes Ct. (cul-de-sac).  Exit Rodes Ct into the pool parking lot and across the finish line.

At the halfway point of the 5K, on the trail near Rose Lane Park, you will find our Water and Aid Station with water and basic first aid materials.  The route will be well marked with volunteers, signs, and balloons to keep participants on track.  This course was designed with as few turns as possible to keep the route simple.  Fairfax County police will be providing road closures and safety precautions along the paved portion of the route.

The event will be held rain or shine.
