Arny Johnson 5k - 10 mile 2024

Short review

The 36th Annual Arny Johnson run/walk will be held on Saturday, April  3, 2021, at Harlem High School in Rockford (Machesney Park.) There is a 5k,  10 mile run/walks. The in person races will do rolling starts from 7:00-9:00 a.m.   A rolling start means you pick up your race bib and begin running, the start mat captures your starting time from your chipped bib and then records your finish time when you finish.  Course is open from 7 a.m. to 12 noon  All participants must finish by 12 noon.  Plan your start so you finish before the closure of the finish line and timing at noon.

Note: Due to COVID-19 the races are unsupported, no water stops.  This is for the safety of participants and volunteers. Course marshals will be in place for turn arounds.  5k is out and back on Willow Creek Path, 10 mile runs out and back on Willow Creek Path as well with a loop of the Rock Cut State Park road. 

Virtual Arny Jonson run/walks: Run the Arny Johnson as a virtual participant  - register as a virtual runner for one of the two distances, 5k, or 10 mile.
 -- Run your race during the week April 4- April 10 enter your time - virtual runners will not be scored in final results.

The event is hosted by the Rockford Road Runners with proceeds going to Annie's Locker.  

Participants receive Arny Johnson Hat and Finisher Medal

AWARDS:   Age Group Awards: 9 & under, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+   

 The courses are fast, flat out-and-back on the Willow Creek Path.

Packet Pickup:  Saturday  April 3 from 6:45 am to 9:30 a.m  at  Harlem School, 1 Huskie Cir, Machesney Park, IL 61115.   Note Rolling Start for both the 10 mile & 5k  is from 7:00-9:00 a.m.

Rolling Starts mean that you will start running immediately after picking up your race packet there is no mass start or waves.  When you cross the start mat your chip will be read and when you cross the finish mat your chip time will be your official time.  You must wear your bib on your front.    

Note there is NO day of  registration.
