8th Annual Run to Remember: CPT David Hortman 5k 2019

Short review

Come join us for a morning of fun, fellowship, and fitness as we remember our hero, CPT David Hortman.  In addition to being a highly decorated and respected Army officer and pilot, Dave was a fitness fanatic with a contagious smile and a fun-filled heart.  Not only will this event honor and celebrate Dave's life, but it will also help us remember those who bravely serve our country and protect the freedoms we enjoy today.

The 8th Annual Run to Remember: CPT David Hortman 5k Run / Walk is sponsored by Friends of Boys State (FOBS), a non-profit organization supporting the American Legion Palmetto Boys State program.  All proceeds will go directly to Friends of Boys State and, at Dave's request, provide scholarships for deserving individuals who may need financial assistance to help make their experience at Palmetto Boys State a reality.  Last year, thanks to your support, Run to Remember: CPT David Hortman 5k sent 30 young men to Palmetto Boys State.  Unbelievable!

Race Course: Our race course features the historic neighborhood in and around the Boulevard Street area including a showcase of the beautiful Anderson University.  The canopy-covered 5k run / walk will be chip timed with official race results posted on-line.  The race will conclude in the Anderson University Abney Athletic Center area and will feature an awards presentation, music, and refreshments.

Race Format: Individual awards will be presented for Overall Men and Women finishers as well as Overall Master's Men and Women finishers: 1st ($75), 2nd ($50), and 3rd ($25).  Gifts/prizes will also be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each age division by gender.  A group/business participation award and gifts will be presented to the organization with the most registered participants.

This year's race shirt will be a performance shirt.  The color will be decided by registered participants by way of survey.  The graphics will feature the iconic Dave's Run logo.
