Short review
The 4th Year 5K is a longstanding UVA tradition presented by the Peer Health Educators. Continuing our tradition of empowering and connecting the UVA community, this year we are offering a Virtual Run/Walk to raise money to give back to Charlottesville in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Much has changed since the last 5K held on the Lawn in November 2019, but one thing that hasn't changed is the strength of the University community and traditions. Our expanded mission for this race is to "Keep Charlottesville Running," hoping to program a positive event in light of other cancellations while giving back to the larger community in a concrete way.
All proceeds from the race will fund a donation in Leslie Baltz's name to the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation and their Community Emergency Response Fund. The Foundation's work varies from supporting non-profits to helping Charlottesville residents make ends meet in this trying time. Being back on Grounds this semester, our goal is to give back to the community that we are apart of and whose resources we share in its time of need.
This year, not only will the virtual platform keep us physically distant, but will allow us to connect with parents, alumni, and at-home students like never before.
