Short review
Don't miss your chance to run West Michigan's favorite, local 200 mile relay, The Fred!!
The Fred 200 Mile Relay includes 36 “spurs” or legs, each ranging from 2 to 9.5 miles in distance, spanning the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail from Rouge River Park Trail head in Belmont to Cadillac. The trail if 60% paved, 40% dirt and is flat and fast!!
The Ed 100 Mile Relay includes 18 “spurs” or legs, running along the return trip of The Fred Relay beginning in Cadillac and finishing in Belmont.
The Lena 50 Mile Relay begins in Big Rapids on Saturday morning and finishes in Belmont.
Four types of teams or “crews” can enter:
For the Fred, an ultra crew called a “Wrecking Crew” having 6 members OR a standard crew called “Yard Crew” of 9 or 12 members. At The Fred, your crew decides how many spurs each runner will run and in what order. Crew start times are based on the average pace starting on Friday morning and continuing non-stop until they finish!
For the Ed, a standard crew called a “Grunt Crew” having 6 members OR an ultra crew called a “Cinder Crew” having 3 members. These crews will start their adventure in Cadillac between 10pm Friday, and 1am Saturday, depending on the predicted pace times.
The Lena 50 Mile Relay is designed for 4 to 5 runner crews splitting 10 spurs along the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail. The race starts in Big Rapids at 7 AM on Saturday and heads to Belmont. Split the spurs up among your crew as you see fit. Look for more details as we move forward. All rules that apply to The Fred and Ed will apply to the Lena. Teams will get a race shirt and finisher medal.
NEW in 2021! A youth Lena 50 Mile Relay will be designed for a youth team (must be entering HS or younger - no college athletes). The youth division will have 11 spurs along the same Lena route as the adult race. Registration will be added and open for the Youth Division by December 1st.
